Note that a Heath Direction (called an Advance Directive in some states) allows you to say what treatment you do NOT want if you become unable to make your wishes known.
However a Health Direction does NOT allow you to request voluntary assisted dying (VAD). Although VAD became available to eligible persons in the ACT in November 2025, you cannot be approved for VAD if you do not have decision-making capacity.
